One of the best ways we know of to provide
our patients with optimum oral health is to
help them establish proper habits at home .
We are committed to doing what it takes to
prevent problems from occurring, or at least
catch them early when they are easier to
correct. While we take all the time
necessary during visits to meticulously
clean and polish your teeth, we'll also
evaluate your own techniques and provide
instruction where needed. And we're equipped
to go the extra mile: providing in-depth
patient education, in-office gum care
therapy, or recommending preventive measures
such as electric toothbrushes with built-in
two minute timers, special floss holders,
medicated rinses, dental sealants or
Nightguards.
We pride ourselves on
commitment to our patients. You never leave
without all your questions being answered.
Our educational system allows you to see
very short informative segments on our
chairside monitors or leave with the exact
information on a CD or a printout to take
home with you.
Our check-ups are anything
but "routine": we examine each and every
tooth for decay, wear patterns, and bony
structure changes. Things you'd never even
notice, we might red flag for your benefit -
like subconscious grinding and clenching
that can lead to painful muscle and joint
problems, as well as eventual bone loss. We
also check the soft tissues of the mouth for
muscle strain, oral cancer or any kind of
periodontal disease. And finally, we
meticulously record everything, tracking
concerns and improvements from one visit to
the next.

It starts with you , the
patient, confirming that you want your mouth

degree of dental disease, we sometimes have
to stage treatment. This allows you to
spread your dental care over several years
if needed. We won't keep you in the dark.
You'll always know what is next. There is
proper sequencing of treatment starting with
emergency care, caries control, restorative,
periodontal health, specialist consults (if
needed) and finally with crown, veneers,
inlays, onlays and bridges. That is the way
we were taught in Dental School, but all too
often we see patients with a crown and
bridge finished, yet built around unhealthy
gums or teeth with large caries that have
not been temporized.
We find it critical to pay
close attention to detail in each
progressive step of our work .

start to finish, not moving on to the next
phase until the first meets our standard for

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease): Early
Detection
Gum disease is extremely
common, and very opportunistic as well. It
is the number one reason for tooth loss
today. Although usually painless, your first
symptoms may be slight bleeding of gums. As
the disease progresses, it causes enough
bone loss around the teeth's roots that they
fall out. Research shows us that periodontal
disease will often become more active when
we are stressed or our immunity is low. Some
studies link periodontal disease to other
life-threatening diseases such as strokes
and heart attacks. That's one reason our
periodontal program is so well organized and
methodical. We've teamed up with the top
specialists in dentistry to design and
implement a program that allows us to
confidently catch and treat even the tiniest
indication of gum disease before it becomes
a problem. Our state-of-the-art soft tissue
laser is a great tool in helping us improve
your gum health. If surgery is necessary, we

better—applying laser science to decay
detection, allowing us to find problems
while they're still small. These types of
early caries are impossible to detect using
the standard explorer and x-rays. A less
invasive, more conservative restoration will
add years to the life expectancy of your
